The reign of terror is over. I spent the entire week in NYC with nary a pair of jeans in sight. Ladies have peeled off their skin tight denim shackles only to embrace the tyranny of tights. Long live tights!
I am worried about NYC vagina. They are suffocating their lady parts. We should help out our well heeled sisters with some copies of Our Bodies, Ourselves or something.

Have you noticed that I haven’t even mentioned the NYC or London fashion shows? Have you? Sometimes talking about clothes is really boring. I think that most people can look at the pictures on Style.com and form their opinions. There’s not much I can say to illuminate the situation.
However, I will make this observation about the shows. A while ago I pointed out that the fundamental difference between British and American style was the hair. Brits tend not to fuss with it too much. But looking at the shows, it seems that the Americans are loosening up a bit. Not so married to the straightening iron, a little looser and softer. This is good news for me, I am terrifically lazy about my hair.

Because I have so many nice things to say about jean jackets, I’m going to dedicate my whole post to them. I have always owned a jean jacket, and when one wears out another one drifts into my life as if it knows there is a vacancy in my heart.
Until now. I have been jean jacket-less for at least a year now, and every once in a while I pull out my old vintage Lee one, but it is on the verge of falling apart, so I return it to the retirement closet while I look for another.
I was reminded of this one from a Japanese store in Barcelona called Doshaburi by Jargol today. I actually tried this jacket on the last time I was there but balked at the price and didn’t buy it. So, so foolish.

Here are the poor cousin candidates from the Levi’s store and eBay respectively:

When I was a kid, the most dog eared sections of the encyclopedia were the sections on: dogs, cats, cattle, human anatomy (but only to look at when Mom and Dad weren’t home) and, oddly, flags. I couldn’t get enough of them. Still can’t.

I just got my haircut and it kind of looks like Nana Mouskouri’s hair in the 60’s. I am stoked. Some people think it’s all about the glasses with Nana Mouskouri, but I would have to disagree, the lady has great hair.
I’m pretty sure this is going to change my life. Cleaned my house and joined the Y. No wonder she sold so many records, good hair gets things started.

Zoiks. Refinery 29 has a posting from last week, distressingly called Tom Tom club, about how cool Native American stuff is. Well, cool if you’re a white designer from Brooklyn using arrow head prints on t-shirts, not so cool to be, you know, an actual Indian.
Also absurd, is the reference to designers showing the “colorful side of nativism”. Isn’t nativism an anti immigration policy born out of Pennsylvania in the 1700’s? How does a designer show the colorful side of xenophobia?
